thanxgiving or chirstmas cacti?

There is no diifference between Thanxgiving and Christmas cacti. They are both the same. It does'n't matter if they flower with Thanxgiving or Christmas. Christmas Cacti do flower naturally from September( orssichiana hybrids) untill February. If you prepare threm with light threatment you can get flowers until June (as we also had christmas cacti in flower during our open door day, 14th of May 2006).
They call it Thanxgiving Cacti only for commercial reasons, so they can sell the plants a time before the christmas season. Same is with the term Holliday Cacti, so they actually can sell it for a longer period than only the christmas season and also sell it to others than catholic people (as there are groups such as moslims who dont celebrate christmas). Same as with the easter cacti, in some countries they are called valentine cacti, motherday cactus etc.
There is no difference in appearing, some say that Thanxgiving have more round stems than Christmas (or was it the other way?) but fact is that they are both hybrids or are generations after a hybrid between ruselliana x truncata. (vice versa)
There are 4 groups of hybrids:
truncata x ruselliana or russelliana x truncata= x buckleyi
truncata x opuntioides or opuntioides x truncata= x exotica
orssichiana x truncata or truncata x orssichiana= x reginae
orssichiana x ruselliana or ruselliana x orssichiana = x eprica
So conclusion Thanxgiving = Christmas Cacti= Schlumbergera.
